Glencoe Museum have some great events lined up…
“Highland Doors Open Days
Saturday 24th September, 2016, 10am-4.30pm.
There’s two drop in sessions during the day where you can have a try at trollen wheel braiding, peg frame knitting, French knitting, rag rug making and lucet cording. All of these techniques our recent or more distant ancestors used to embellish their clothes. The craft sessions are drop in anytime between 10am-12pm & 1pm-3.30pm.
Historic Poo
Thursday 6th October 3.30pm-5pm
Drop in after school on Thursday 6th of October from 3.30pm onwards. In this activity you will find out how archaeologists discover what people in the past ate. You will excavate a human poo that an archaeologist has found in a cesspit and learn about diets. This event coincides with the Highland Archaeological Festival.
Scribble Scribe
Wednesday 12th October 2016 10.30am-12noon
Come in during the October holidays and try your hand at writing and illuminating with a quill pen and ink pot. See a replica copy of the letter sent to Captain Robert Campbell of Glenlyon the night before the Glencoe Massacre and write an alternative letter with different orders, or simply practice writing your name or send a letter to a family member. Things could get messy so bring an adult and wear suitable clothing. Suitable for age 5 and upwards though all are welcome along!
